How Does Protein Help You Burn Fat?

It is important that you eat sufficient protein in your daily meal plan. Yes, sufficient but not an over abundance of protein every day. A lot of people have this misconception that they have to eat loads of protein in order to build these lean and toned muscles.

So What is Protein?

Your body breaks down protein into Amino Acids and uses them to build up your muscles. When you exercise you are actually breaking down muscle. This does Not mean that you need tons of protein every single day. You should keep proteins in reasonable portions.

What is important is that you need to eat protein in every meal as this will help you to Burn Fat. Protein releases a hormone called Glucagon which has the opposite effect of insulin. Where insulin is a fat storing hormone, Glucagon is a Fat Burning hormone.

So if you eat 1 or 2 portions of protein in every meal then you are going to get this fat burning effect.

It is also a blood sugar stabiliser, so when you eat protein along with your carbohydrates, you help to keep your blood sugar levels stable. When you just eat carbohydrates without protein, your blood sugar is constantly going through these highs and lows.

What Foods contain Good Proteins?

~ Whole organic Eggs
~ Organic grass-fed Beef
~ Natural free-range Chicken and Turkey
~ Wild fish like Salmon
~ Raw nuts and nut butters e.g. Almond butter

Here are some meal suggestions

Breakfast

~ 2 eggs with carbohydrates from fruit or vegetables

~ e.g. Spinach Omelette or scrambled eggs followed by an apple

Snacks

~ Raw nuts or a Nut Butter like Almond Butter

Lunch and Dinner

~ Wild Salmon or other wild fish

~ Organic or Free-range Chicken or Turkey

~ (thigh or leg meats are good as well if they are free-range or organic – the extra fat will not be a problem)

~ Grass fed Beef steak

Even 4 ounces to 8 ounces is enough protein in any one meal.(100 grams to 200 grams)
